Responsible Play

At Edmonton Casino, we want gambling to remain a fun form of entertainment and nothing more. It should never be a way to make money, solve financial problems or escape from difficulties. This page explains our commitment to responsible play, the tools you can use to stay in control, how to check your own gambling habits and where to find free, confidential support.

1. Our Commitment

We are committed to:

  • Giving you clear, easy-to-use tools to manage your play.
  • Making sure only adults of legal age can open an account and gamble.
  • Training our team to recognise signs of gambling harm and respond with care.
  • Reaching out when we see patterns of play that cause concern.
  • Never sending marketing to players who are self-excluded or taking a break.
  • Pointing you to independent support organisations whenever you need them.

2. Tips for Safer Play

  • Set a budget before you play and stick to it.
  • Treat any money you spend as the cost of entertainment.
  • Never chase your losses.
  • Take regular breaks and keep track of time.
  • Avoid gambling when you are upset, stressed or have been drinking.
  • Balance gambling with other hobbies and time with family and friends.

3. Tools You Control

You can use any of the following tools at any time. Most can be set up in your account settings, and our team can help by email.

Deposit, Wager and Stake Limits

Set limits on how much you can deposit, how much you can wager in total and how much you can bet on a single spin or round. Limits can be set for a daily, weekly or monthly period. Once you reach a limit, you will not be able to go past it until the period resets.

Reality Checks and Time Alerts

Reality checks show regular reminders during play, telling you how long you have been playing and how much you have won or lost in your session. Time alerts let you know when you have reached a playing time you chose in advance. These reminders help you pause and decide whether to continue.

Take a Break and Cooling-Off

If you want a short pause, you can take a break for any period from 24 hours to 6 weeks. During this time, you cannot log in to play or deposit, and we will not send you marketing. Your account reopens automatically when the break ends.

Self-Exclusion and Account Closure

If you feel you need a longer break or want to stop gambling with us completely, you can self-exclude. During self-exclusion, your account is closed to gambling, you will not receive marketing, and we will take reasonable steps to stop you from opening a new account. A self-exclusion cannot be cancelled early. You may also ask us to close your account permanently. Please let us know if you are closing your account because of gambling concerns, so we can apply the right protections.

If you live in a province with its own self-exclusion programme, you may also wish to enrol in it for wider protection.

Self-Assessment Quiz

Our quick, confidential self-assessment quiz helps you reflect on your gambling habits. It is explained further below.

KYC and Geolocation Checks Before Any Deposit

Before you can deposit, we verify your identity and age and confirm that you are located in an eligible area. These checks protect minors, prevent fraud and help ensure that only eligible adults can play.

4. How Limit Changes Take Effect

We make it easy to reduce your risk and harder to increase it on impulse:

  • Decreases apply instantly. If you lower a limit, it takes effect straight away.
  • Increases take 24 hours. If you raise or remove a limit, the change only takes effect after a 24-hour delay. This gives you time to think it over.

5. Self-Assessment

Ask yourself these questions honestly:

  • Do you spend more money or time gambling than you planned?
  • Do you gamble to win back money you have lost?
  • Have you borrowed money or sold things to gamble?
  • Do you feel restless or irritable when you try to cut back?
  • Do you hide your gambling from family or friends?
  • Has gambling affected your work, studies, health or relationships?
  • Do you gamble to escape from problems or difficult feelings?

If you answered yes to any of these, consider taking our self-assessment quiz, setting limits or taking a break, and reach out to one of the support organisations listed below.

6. Protecting Minors

Gambling with us is only for adults of legal age, which is 19 or older in Alberta and Ontario. We verify the age of every player before any deposit. If you share a device with children or young people, please keep your login details private, log out after each session and use parental controls. Read our Underage Gambling Policy for more information.
